Embassy Suites San Juan Hotel & Casino General Manager Olivier Maumaire couldn’t be happier these days. Some even swear they can hear him singing the praises of the hotel’s recently inaugurated Oasis Casino and El Patio Latin Bar Café all over the place. Okay, I’m exaggerating a bit here, but not so much. We’re talking about an investment of more than $450,000 into a revamping coup that includes a new logo as well as ultra-modern gaming tables and slot machines in a VIP area—a player’s dream come true. Plus the Oasis Players Club, a membership program based on redeeming points for player-friendly rewards including hotel stays, dinners, attractive gifts in a variety of forms, and cash money.
See now why Maumaire is so happy? No dobubt he’s betting on the come-to-me appeal of the tables, the bling-bling power of the machines adorning the premises, and the club to catch those bona fide players’ roving eyes. But there is more to this casino story. It’s the Oasis Lounge, a haven for dance aficionados who double as big spenders, packed with state-of-the-art light-and-sound effects plus a dance floor, besides the de rigueur tables, so they can dance and play till they drop. If they don’t—drop, that is—and yet don’t want to play anymore, they have the option of visiting the café to enjoy great food that runs the gamut from scrumptious Latin recipes to tapas and sangria. Not to mention a selection of wines to die for. Oh, I’m telling you, they are going to feel like winners, win or lose!
Just like the guests invited by Maumaire to the inaugural-night party felt, including government officials such as Puerto Rico Tourism Co. (PRTC) Sub-director Ada Sofía Estévez, and execs responsible for gambling operations on the island, from PRTC Executive Director Mario González to Auxiliary Director of Operations Julio Rivera and Director of the Supervision & Inspection Area José C. Figueroa. Among other reps of the local hospitality industry, friends, suppliers and media members attending the inauguration, were Clarisa Jiménez, Ismael Vega, Valentín Ayala, Esaul Rodríguez, Julio Rivera, Vladimir Fernández, Nicolás Seda, Alberto Esquilín, Antonio Matta, José Alvarez, and Casiano Communications’ Nora Casiano and Annette Oliveras.
