Once again pushing the pedal to the metal, Ford’s recent show of automotive force at the Pan American Pier wrapped up the 2012 Focus launch blast in urban- chic style, following a tremendously successful three-month-or-so contest on Facebook dubbed “Focus Challenge.”
The Challenge—walk with me down memory lane—was launched back in March, when media members were gathered at the Escambrón Beach restaurant to hear the news of Ford’s interactive plans for the Focus.
The celebration at the pier officially introduced the F-machine to the local market of young and young-at-heart consumers who possess a vibrant, rock-my-world attitude and know their techno gadgets—and want them all in the cars they drive, or else. Guests by the hundreds attended the event and couldn’t have been more in awe of the hi-tech decor of the premises, which was impressive, featuring a huge stage for the musical spectacles of La Secta rock band and the Alexis & Fido duo, as well as individual stages for the eight Focus vehicles on display. Awed among the many, though still able to let their hair down, enjoy the ambiance and bask in the amenities, including the delicious hors d’oeuvres prepared by Chef Giovanna Huyke, were Stella and Luis Soto of Uno Radio Group, Larry Sands and Magali Salicrup of Univisión Puerto Rico, WAPA’s Luis Somoza, Sherman Wildman of Radio WOSO, Salvador Hasbún of Telemundo, José Arbona and Néstor Vale of Reliable, Popular Auto’s Edouard Lafontant, Karsten Summers of Enterprise, Jorge Rodríguez of JWT, Julio Ortiz of Caguas Expressway Motors, Jorge Martínez of Central Ford and Gregorio Salcedo of Alberic Ford.
If you’re thinking they had a great time, you’re right, thanks to the gracious social ways of Ford’s General Director for Central America & the Caribbean, Waldo Galán, and his staffers, who always aim to please. Everything about the party was great, yet special mention should be made of the Focus Challenge winning team: Kimberly Ibarra and Adriana Martínez, aka Team 4 (among eight teams), representing Central Ford in Vega Alta. Each team member received a Ford Focus (my oh my!), but don’t cry for the members of the other teams. No Focus for them, but—hey!—a $500 reward per member, for their effort, isn’t bad…
