The Caribbean people of Atlanta GA came out to celebrate their culture with Carnival festivities on Saturday, May 29, 2010. The 22nd Anniversary parade started on West Peachtree, and ended with a Festival Village on historic Auburn Avenue. Themed, “It’s Yours, It’s Mine, It’s Carnival”, this year’s celebration was the biggest and best ever as it shut down Downtown, Atlanta, GA.
Through incorporating a variety of sights, sounds and tastes of the Caribbean, the organizers gave a valuable “experience” that brought the “essence” of Carnival from the Caribbean into the City of Atlanta. Many came out and brought their family, friends and associates, ready to enjoy the wide array of food, fun and festivities
The most common ethnic groups among all Africans taken to Jamaica were the Akan (known as the “Coromantee”) and the Igbo.[40] Multiracial Jamaicans form the second largest racial group many of whom also have some Irish ancestry although most mixed-race people on the island self-report simply as “Jamaican”.
