A Tribute to the Late Joan Savoury

Dubbed the “Caribbean Oprah” by those close to her, Resident of Atlanta, Georgia, Joan Savoury passed away on June 11, 2011. She will be dearly missed as a friend to many and considered determined to succeed at her MC craft by most. She is a Jamaican native, and has been very active for over 25 years in the Caribbean media circles. Joan arrived from Jamaica approximately 28 years ago, making New York City her home for about 10 years, after which she relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area before making her presence felt here in Atlanta Georgia.

Ms. Savoury was heard live every Fri, 2pm to 4pm and Saturday, 10am to 12 noon via The Savoury Show on WIGO 1570 AM Radio, The LIGHT, in Atlanta.  She also was an M.C. for most Caribbean events in the metro Atlanta area and is quite funny on stage. She will be truly missed.
